Dear Parent/Guardian,
Welcome to class 2/3 M8! My name is Ms. Berkowitz and I am your child’s teacher for the 2011-2012 school year. I spent much of my summer planning for the new school year, and I am very excited to be working with you and your child this year.

This is a very important year for your child, one that is filled with new discoveries. Our curriculum will be both exciting and challenging. As part of the Arts Academy, our class will have the opportunity to participate in additional Art activities. Success depends upon a strong family/school relationship. You can help your child succeed by giving your support to what is taking place in the classroom. This can be done by having discussions with your child about what he/she is learning, setting up routines for homework, and arranging for appointments to speak with me about your child’s progress. Please be aware that homework is assigned every day. Working together we can help your child reach his/her academic goals.
Some things to keep in mind:
·         The school day is from 8:00 am until 2:50 pm. It is critical that your child arrive on time and prepared for class.
·         Homework is assigned every night. It is important that all homework is completed every night as homework reinforces what is taught in class.
·         A list of supplies that are needed for the school year is also attached.
·         Please read to and with your child every night!
I will keep you informed about our curriculum and your child’s progress through notes home, phone calls and/or parent-teacher meetings. If you need to contact me please feel free to do so. You can call the school and leave for a message for me in the main office.
                                                                                                                        Sincerely,
 Ms. Berkowitz
